Remaining Resilient Despite Financial Challenges
Take the lessons from your own experiences and the experiences of others to avoid getting burned in the future. – Will Manzaneras
We all have those moments in life where we think, “why didn’t I see that coming?” I found myself in one of those after a partnership I invested in went south faster than a snowball in summer. It was a publishing company that seemed to have it all. They had the right words, the right promises, seemingly successful track record, and ultimately they had my trust. They also were about to teach me a big lesson on remaining resilient despite financial challenges.
Unfortunately, as happens to many entrepreneurs, things didn’t go as planned. One day, out of the blue, they sent out an email, a goodbye letter of sorts, saying they ran out of money. Just like that, the dream was over. They had taken my money, along with many others, and couldn’t deliver what they had promised.
It was a big blow, no doubt, but it taught me something invaluable. It made me realize the importance of doing thorough research and due diligence before jumping headfirst into any business partnership or investment. I learned the hard way, but it’s a lesson that’s been etched in my heart ever since. Mistakes, they say, are the best teachers. And boy, did I learn a harsh lesson.
Experiences like this are disheartening, but also make us wiser. Take a listen to this episode to hear how stay cautious and ways to dig deeper before making a commitment.
